As part of the Mandatory Soft Story Retrofit Program (MRP), this building received a notification mandating improvements to address its "soft story" condition and ensure earthquake resistance through a seismic retrofit. This building fell into compliance tier III under the program.
This project qualified for the MRP as it had a wood frame construction, was two or more stories tall, was constructed before January 1, 1978, and contained five or more residential units.
The ground-level parking area of the project scope included the installation of two grade beams and two moment frames. Additionally, there was a two-level concrete pilaster/concrete wall combination supporting a moment frame at a separate third-level tuck-under parking area. These structural elements were implemented to enhance the building's seismic resilience and reinforce its stability.
